John Calipari had four years left on his deal at the University of Memphis. Some will miss Calipari, other will not. Being that Memphis is a basketball city, I'm leaning that most will. When you take a look at Kentucky's offer, would you have made the same decision? I'm sure many will argue that 'money was not the issue.' yeah RIGHT! If Calipari is fired before the deal runs out in 2017, he would be owed $3 million annually for the remainder of the contract. He may also may earn as much as $750,000 in bonuses for winning the Southeastern Conference title and National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament championship. The university contributes $40,000 annually to his retirement account, provides him two cars, a golf club membership and 20 days paid vacation.
After viewing the figures, I would say Calipari thought about this within a heartbeat, I don't see him in Memphis anymore, do you?
